Hope you’re hungry, because we finally made it to the hottest (and possibly most debilitating) lunch spot in all of O-Town.
Fatty’s Chicken and Rib dates all the way back to 2013, and is the first funk song I ever wrote. While it may not have the same pop feel as the other songs on the album, it may be the most important, given the vibe of the song gave us a sense of tone for the rest of the EP in terms of humor and world view. Plus, we were obligated to include it given that Fatty’s was the corporate sponsor behind this album. 😅
Please eat responsibly.
Today's bonus video is our take on Hot Ones! If you'd like to watch Doug eat some ver spicy hot sauces and talk all things Lunch Rush, give it a watch.
This song is all about feel, and easily has the most complex horn part on the entire album. it was also a great excuse to break out the clavinet, which we surprisingly had yet to do on a raspberry pie record. we originally wanted to include skits on the ep, but it dawned on us that we might not be able to justify it on a 5 song ep, so the skits were essentially incorporated into the songs, making for the silliest raspberry pie record thus far, with fatty’s being the silliest track on said record.
If you’re hungry I’ve got just the place
To get a bite to eat
A restaurant with food so good
It’ll knock you off your feet
And leave you reaching for your chest
While lying on your back
After just one bit you just can’t fight
A massive heart attack
Got entrees, sides so good you might
Just eat until you burst
To get inside you’ll have to sign
A couple waivers first
Lunch is always tastier served up with rice and beans
And chitlins triple butter fried with bacon wrapped in cheese
Take a seat, it’s time to eat, might wanna wear a bib
For all the greasy food that we’ll consume at Fatty’s Chicken and Rib
They’ve been shut down a dozen times
Because the FDA
Do not approve of Fatty’s food
But they serve it anyway
When they get rats they go in vats
Of oil and get fried
Then sold off with a value meal
And cornbread on the side
Got entrees, sides so good you might
Just eat until you burst
To get inside you’ll have to sign
A couple waivers first
Lunch is always tastier served up with rice and beans
And chitlins triple butter fried with bacon wrapped in cheese
Take a seat, it’s time to eat, might wanna wear a bib
For all the greasy food that we’ll consume at Fatty’s Chicken and Rib
Got double fudge cake for dessert
Half off, but best of all
For half the price you still get twice
As much cholesterol
Then you grab an after dinner mint
When you can’t eat no more
The sugar shock will make you drop
Before you make the door
So run real fast, if you’re too fat
Just sit right down and roll
To the kitchen fixin’ ribs and chicken
Made of solid soul
Lunch is always tastier served up with rice and beans
And chitlins triple butter fried with bacon wrapped in cheese
Take a seat, it’s time to eat, might wanna wear a bib
For all the greasy food that we’ll consume at Fatty’s Chicken and Rib
while fatty’s chicken and rib is unfortunately (or possibly fortunately) not a real establishment, there is a fried chicken spot in orlando called maryland fried chicken, which, while not nearly as disgusting or debilitating as the food at fatty’s, has the best fried chicken any of us have every eaten.
put it this way: you know those facebook videos of us playing east ened market? that was a 3 hour show, and once it was over, there was nothing any of us wanted more than to grab some maryland fried chicken. check it out if you ever come to o-town!
